Meet your local Franchisee ~ this husband and wife team have been Mailplus Franchisee’s for over 10 years!
Meet husband and wife team Darrell Baldwin and Daryl McDonnell who have been Mailplus Franchisee’s for 10 years. Over the years they have owned several Mailplus franchises and together they now run Mailplus Franchises in the Moreton Bay and the North Lakes regions of Queensland.
What attracted you to becoming a franchisee with Mailplus?
We now have a business that both my wife and I share, which means my wife has more time to spend with the grandchildren and I get to spend more time on the golf course!
What is your favourite customer story?
I don’t really have one single customer story that stands out. All our customers feedback that they can’t believe how the service we provide has improved their business; simply by keeping their staff at their workstations and providing them with better productivity.
We pride ourselves on providing a service that our customers want and appreciate, knowing that we will be punctual, polite and efficient.
What do you like most about being a Mailplus Franchise business owner?
That every day is different!
How does being a Mailplus franchisee compare to your previous job?
It’s very different.
We were both employed for a long period at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, my wife was a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department and I was a Senior Safety and Security Officer, at times these were both very high pressure positions.
How long have you lived in your area?
We have lived in the area for three years, we actually moved here to be closer to our Franchises. Our house was the second house to be built on the Capestone lakeside estate.
What do you love about where you live?
Moreton Bay (including North Lakes) is a major growth area being around 32km from Brisbane. The council here is very forward thinking in the services it provides for the area.
There are people and businesses moving into the area every day, we hope in some way, we can contribute to this region.
There’s everything you need on our doorstep, a major hospital, North Lakes shopping centre, great restaurants; we’re also close to Redcliffe that’s a very good dining precinct.
We’re well catered for with excellent sporting facilities; including two very good golf courses and an abundance of activities for both kids and adults.
What do you enjoy to do when you’re not working?
I play golf twice a week whilst the wife enjoys computer games! We have shares in two racehorses so when they are running you will find us at one of Brisbane’s racecourses.
How does a typical day look for you as a Mailplus Franchisee?
My average driving distance during the day is about 190 to 210kms.
I’m up and on the road at 06.00 am attending 6 post offices to clear boxes for approx. 52 clients. Deliveries usually start at around 7.15am and continue until the last drop off at approx. 9.45 am. Pick up then starts across different locations at around 10.30am and continues through until the last drop at 16.45pm.
Here’s what some of Darrell’s customers have to say….
We have been using the services of Darrell at Mailplus Moreton Bay Region for over four (4) years to collect our mail from the post office and to deliver it to our office.
During the time of using Mailplus we have always found Darrell to be reliable and punctual. At times when a limited amount of mail (or no mail) was available in our post box, Darrell will re-attend the post office later in the day to confirm no further mail was delivered. This is done without us having to request.
We highly recommend Darrell and Mailplus Moreton Bay Region for dependable mail delivery, with a smile (and sometimes a joke), which is a great way to start the day.
Nikolai Koolik, Principal
Darrell Baldwin delivers our mail in the morning, and picks up outgoing mail in the afternoon. He also picks up our banking. We find him punctual, professional, honest, friendly and extremely helpful.
If you were wondering if you should take Mailplus on we would thoroughly recommend them. Having Mailplus doing the pick up and deliveries is an asset to the business.
